You could convert it, but I would suggest that you only do that if you really find a valid reason to.

Even though I make my living creating custom programs, my phylosophy has always been, "if it an't broken don't fix it". I disagree that you should run out and buy VFP 8.0 just so Microsoft can stay in business. I do hope that Foxpro can survive and thrive, however.

I went from Dbase to Clipper because it created programs that were so much quicker for my clients. I upgraded to a new version of clipper because it gave me more functions that could benefit my clients.

I have come into Visual Foxpro, kicking and screaming. the DOS/lantastic environment was so fast and easy for my clients that I dreaded forcing them into something that was slow and cludgy.

Even though I have been creating custom programs since 1985 in this dBase type world, it takes me at least 3 to 4 times longer to create a windows program that a DOS clipper program. Thus my client are being asked to spend 3 to 4 times as much money as I feel they should.

Don't get me wrong, there are some neat things in the Window's world, even if they take forever to create. If you come across a need for a report that needs graphics or you want it to look more professional, you may want to consider VFP. The ccounting system that I am just finishing to convert is for a True Value hardware store. They wanted a better inventory control and the use of bar code readers. Bar codes print and read better in the VFP world, so my client has bit the bullet and are now up and running. (after much pain and agony - the owners keeps asking "Why can't it be as easy as the old program - I say sorry - welcome to windows.)
