Seems I will take the plunge and go with VFP for a comple of the upgrade reasons you mention (bar codes, elegance,) also because this is for hobby/business purposes the time/learning curve burden is not a factor. But one other question ramains, should/must I use the new/expensive 8.0 version or would an earlier one work for my limited purposes (no networking/web applications)? Your counsel welcome...thanks

If you already have VFP6, work with it. If you should buy VFP, buy newest
