We are experiencing extremely slow performance with Sql Server 7 on some of our workstations and others are sailing along beautifully. We have installed the latest Service Patch (4). For example, a simple select statement takes 1 second to process on some workstations and more than a minute on others. The workstations appear to have the same software and network adaptors. The workstations with slow performance do not appear to have problems connecting to other servers.

Has anyone experienced this type of problem? What kind of performance tests can I do to determine the cause of the slow performance?

I appreciate any insight you can provide.
