Thanks Gordon. FWIW, I finally did the following, which works:

After figuring out the desired row, using among other things David Frankenbach's method to calculate rows in grid, focus on the row you want with ThisGrid.DoScroll(). I haven't been able to avoid flickering as VFP first sets focus to a different row, even though I have set Thisform.LockScreen = .T. I owe the DoScroll() idea to Ken Weber.
