When making a phone call from India to the USA is there a delay?

A Call Centre I do work for is afraid they are going to lose one of their American clients due to the opening of a new call centre in India.

The product is a 'tough sell' and most sales people take about twenty minutes to complete a 'sale'. I believe that a delay in the voice transmission between India and the USA will cause a problem during 'instense' sales calls.


I dont want to call India to find out I am too cheap to pay the long distance bill.

Even with the most advanced technology what is the time delay in phone calls going from India to the USA?

Or is there no noticable delay ?
