Hi,
I've got an application which I'm running at startup on several users machines on several servers.
The application uses drive mappings which it gets from environment variables on the users machine.

If I put a shortcut to the application in the startup directory and point it to X:\blah\blah\blah it only seems to run if the user if the user has perviously mapped a drive to x which is remembered on startup.

Since I can't be sure if this is going to be the case I have pointed the shortcuts to the dfs path, \\xxx\xxx\xxx\xxx

Unfortunately a frigging genius has decided to call one of the folders
xx. xxx (Not content with just a space or a '.' he's gone for both.)

In the case of this server, when I try to run my application from the shortcut (pointing with dfs path) I get an error from the application saying that it can't find itself.
i.e.
'Unable to find file applicationname.exe'

Is there anyone out there who is less confused by this than me and who might be able to tell me why this is?
