I have not attempted to do anything with voice yet, but I will admit that I was very cautious about handwriting recognition being workable. However, getting my Tablet PC, and having to do nothing but install our 11 different applications to test. I was completely amazed on how well it is working right now. I will admit that my handwriting is so bad that I can not even recognize what I was trying to write and the computer was about 70-80% correct to start with. A little practice on my part improved that even more. Issues as I see right now is to re-design some input forms so that they are more adaptable to our users. Case in point, I simply scan the present paper form they are use to using, created a form with that image displayed, added textboxes etc. where they are use to writing information. With little effort, was able to create a usable and workable GUI for them that works quite well. Font size is a problem, so created a class so that when the user is focused on a particular zone, a form is available where the inputs are of larger fontsize. As informtion is entered into this form, the corresponding control on the image form is updated and works quite nicely.

The frustration to popup the Input Panel was an issue, but as we are going along, the gesture option sure works nice. Just waggle the pen and it appears.

So at this point the price of the Tablet PC is way too much, but quite certain they will drop and we hope to be ready, done testing, and start using. Only problem now is that we attempted to order some more units (Toshiba 3505) and for some reason can not even find the listing anywhere. Not sure if there is an issue with them or what. May have to consider alternate systems.
