Pocket PCs were head and shoulders above Palms in terms of handwriting input. This is mostly because you can write letters more naturally instead of having to learn grafitti. With TabletPCs you are writing words and sentences instead of just a letter at a time so handwriting has taken another great leap forward. You are right, it still takes some discipline and patience... but then again so does writing neatly.

Not sure. Both are much better than even 5 years ago.
