Both of your answers were very enlightening. I think what I'll do is start playing around, maybe purchase the MM framework in a couple of months, and then go .Net for my next web app (which will also be my first in which I actually build the front-end).

It sounds like I should stay away from building desktop apps in .Net, at least for now.
