FWIW, I can't think of any way to generically hide it.

This is the kind of thing that I wanted the VFP team to try to address in future versions of the product. I don't know about you, but I'd like to have any and all scrollbars to behave intelligently - they should only appear when required and necessary. For example, if a listbox's height is sufficient to accomodate all items then don't show the vertical scrollbar (since there is nothing to scroll to).
