Crystal Reports
Joy,
I can't say much about the speed issue as my tables are not that large. OLE DB seems a bit quicker to me, but for my use the difference is tiny.
However, I would caution you about an issue with VFP OLE DB and Crystal Reports 9: There is a bug in VFPOLEDB that causes it to crash when enumerating stored procedures under some circumstances. This is not a problem with CR 8.5 as it does not enumerate stored procedures, but CR 9 enumerates them under several circumstances. It is possible to turn off this enumeration in most places, but if you ever Verify the database links for any reason it may crash.
This is not a problem for all databases, but it is unpredicatable. Both Jeff Southworth and I have had problems while testing CR9. In my case, the crash occures when I have a fairly large referential integrity procedure. Jeff believes his case is due to a large number of stored procedures.
Hopefully Microsoft will have a fix for VFPOLEDB.DLL soon...
...Jim
