I have not seen foxfire in sometime. We don't allow our users to create their reports on the fly (until now - we are considering it) so for reporting capabilities I was referring to the report designer in VFP. It has always had limits. Office automation should be builtin and be gui to send a report to email or word, etc. It should be capable of printing to PDF, and other types, etc and allow for rotating text, having multiple detail bands and multiple child tables (easily, not the way we have to do it by working around the limitation as it is now), etc. You know, just like RAVE reports!

I also should have mentioned adding a section on development speed. A framework should really speed up a developer's time in pushing out apps to the customer. Honestly, VFE has cut my development time in half. I use VFE at home now for customers I support on the side, but at work we use vanilla vfp because we also develop using Delphi (alot) and now also .net (in small increments) so we purchase additional tools but not frameworks. I have been pushing a framework at work since I arrived! I started using VFE when I worked for the government and there is no comparison to developing in VFP without a framework and developing in VFP using one. A framework is such a performance booster!

>Thank you very much for your comments. You are absolutely right, I forgot the support issue; very important.

>Have you seen Foxfire!? I do use this for reporting currently for simple VFP apps. I know that the product can handle PDF with the appropriate drivers. I assume that it probably can post reports to the web as well if necessary. I do like this product for reporting.
