I do not think there is one answer to this issue. Talk about a “gray area” this is one. If you (third person) have a problem you express on the UT and a third party suggests a commercially available product as an alternative to solve a problem that may be acceptable. If the party doing the suggesting is a member of the staff or company and represents his/her company’s product then more flags are thrown up for whatever reason.
I know if have a problem I welcome any legitimate approach to solving it. In your case we have “Spam” being received months later – that is a pain where I sit down!
