This is your site and you have rules, which we must follow, and that is only fair. As users of the UT we are not privileged to know or understand why Kevin posts things about MM as a product or his training courses. Yes, that appears as a double standard regardless of what you will say. No further explanation on your part is necessary. It is more than a perception as it is reality.

All that aside I follow a rule when posting information about something that I have for sale that I have developed. I contact the web master or site owner and request permission for such an announcement. It seems to me to be a simple form of etiquette and one which if practiced would alleviate such conflict. If the poster had followed that simple rule he/she would have been informed of the rules to follow or perhaps been granted permission to post the information.

Had the product been advertised as if it came from a third party I think it would have been more acceptable – such as, “You might take a look at a new tool which I have been using…” or a worst case, “Our company has created … to assist developers. You might take a look at it at…”. Well, neither scenario follows the rules but the original post is only an advertisement with no human content or feeling.
