This isn't a bug.
The 'l' character is an inputmask format code, just like a, n, x and y. These characters won't appear in the textbox, but will instead limit what you can type for that particular character.
Note that the position of the L is blank and will only accept a logical T or F value.
If you want to show a lower case L, you could maybe try an upper case i, it looks the same as a lower case L for some fonts, like Arial.
It might be nice to have an escape character which would allow a literal of the inputmask codes. You could post an enhancement request for that.
