Hi All,

I have a friend who is having a problem with a corrupted General Field.

Detail:

When they browse and open a BMP that is embedded in a FoxPro 2.6a General Memo Field they get two different errors:

1) The first one is "Ole server can not be found or executed".
a. This closes the app.

2) When they go back in and browse they get an internal inconsistency error in FOXPROW.EXE and we get kicked out.

It appears that Memo field is being corrupted. Is their any way to fix it?

Additional info:

The problems started occuring when they purchased a 2,8 ghz Server with dual zeron processors and 1 Gig of Ram, and three 2.8 ghrz Dell systems with 512 Ram. The Server is running Window 2000 SBS. The workstations are running XP Pro.

They have followed the suggestions in the Help that says delete the Foxuser.dbf and Foxuser.fpt and delete the CDX and rebuilt the Indexes.

Additionally, they are having a problem in finding the right OLE or ODBC Driver for the Window FoxPro 2.6.

Now, most of the BMP's that are located in the General Memo File have become
corrupted.

The fast patch has been installed long ago.

The problem seems to occur when the Picture is opened in MS paint (BMP) and when saving back to Fox.

More corrospondence:

To test this they found a good Invenory file and manually entered regular data. Then added 30 Pictures and then out of the blue we got General Fault Error. When they went back in he would get the Internal inconsistency error. This would further corrupt the Memo field.

They also tried copying the structure and doing an “append from” but for some reason the General memo field would not copy over. Probably due to the corrupted files.

They have reduced the video display to 16 bit color and the resolution to 800 x 600.

Is it possible for a General memo field to get so large that it will cause a internal inconsistency in foxPro 2.6?

Any ideas what causing the problem? How to get it to stop? and how to fix the General Fields? All information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Daniel
