No, I didn't miss those facts at all.
The beta (public, which I take it the originator is using) didn't have the documentation for the XML stuff, and DougH and some others often mentioned improvements in the CursorAdapter in later beta releases.
My point, in case you still don't see it, is that development in the absence of Help info for XML and with lots of CursorAdapter misses may be worth including in the consideration of which direction to take.
