The next question you will ask... why C#?
Pretty simple. This work place is going to use only .NET products. In order to annoy them with their choice, I choose C# instead of pure VB. :-) Well hell, I have a number of flavors to choose from, I might as well choose one that is brand new so that I am in the same boat as every other C# programmer.
If you had the choice... would you choose VB or C#? I don't think I can avoid the ASP stuff though.
Front: ASP maybe mixed with a little VB
Middle: C#
Back: Oracle/SQL Server whatever they want.
