Well, he asked the same question in couple of his e-mails. By asking questions he is trying to force me to think, which I'm trying to do as hard, as my brain allows me :)

Anyway, here is that I've answered and he came with new questions:

Yeah...as long as you treat the shopping cart as it completely independent thing you should be able to go ahead with it...the other stuff might or might not require a small mod later to the shopping cart...not going to be a big deal.

As for the 'X'...you're right...that's exactly what I'm looking for...but more important..what does stateless means ? What kind of requirement does that put on the application itself ? In order to implement any app, what would be the 'make up' of the application ? Can we have monoithic application anymore ? Are they all event based ? Think in the way of OOP but with lots of twists and interesting affects/effects... What does it mean in regards to the 'flow' ? Do we have a 'complete' flow ??? What would it take to do it...what are the assumption ? risk ? etc.

Subject: RE: Principal question

Thanks a lot. So, it's close to that I have envisioned so far.

Joe, I think, we can start from those assumptions now. Check out my e-mail with "sort of diagram" from yesterday. Right now I'm going to create another one with concentration on Shopping Cart detail functionality.

In regards to your question about "X" (I'm still a little bit confused here), I think, they key point of WEB environment is that it's stateless.

>I'm thinking if he can figure out a way to state the question better, he might be able to answer the question himself. :)

>>Ok, here is an extract from e-mail (and he asked the same question couple of times). I don't know the answer, may be somebody can explain?

>>An example, using this case. Here's what I would think of first...what do I needed to do...how will I do it...the what is that I needed to somehow associate a user with his 'cart' which contains 'many items'...how will I do it ? First, you will needed to know your environment...and that is the web...which means that it is 'X' (what is this 'X' ? this is the same question that I had asked before and the most important)...anyway, here's how I would implemented it in a high order...see if
>you can match step by step on what he could be doing...I will try to do this by ways of a 'walk through'...
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
