Terry -

I received this response from Markus Eggar on 16Jan03:

>Visual Object Modelers and EPS in partnership offered and advertised software that would support VFP users. In addition they offered upgrade/maintenance packages whereby they charged additional money for yearly support. Last year I purchased VUML from Visual Object Modelers on recommendations from EPS, UT member articles, Code Magazine articles. Unfortunately as many of you already know, EPS has not provbied update support for VUML 3.0. They should have let consumers know that customers know that they would not provide future support. They cost some of us a good deal of money.
>
>For example I purchased in Midyear 2002 Visual UML 2.9.2a the only update since then is VUML 3.0 (DEC 2002). What do you know, no support for VFP. So I payed for a product and product upgrade support based on their advertisements that they (at least EPS) clearly had knowledge that they were not going to provide. Since this is a Fox Forum I will leave out my complaints about lack of CC-Rider support.

>I have emailed both Visual Object Modelers and EPS. EPS chose not to respond. Visual Object Modelers defers to EPS but did respond.

>Your disappointment is justified. We also feel somewhat let down by this situation and have had to deal with a several incidents like this from customers.

>However, no fraud or deception has taken place. This is because we did NOT know back then that EPS Software would not be updating their VFP Interface to work with Visual UML version 3.0. We have been asking them for a while to update their interfaces to work with Visual UML version 3.0 but have so far not been able to get any firm commitments from them to do so. They presumably made their decision based on business opportunities (or lack thereof) in that if there is not enough demand for a VFP Interface then it presumably does not make good business sense for them to continue to produce one. As we have not been successful in getting them to reconsider and to take action in this regard, we are suggesting that disgruntled customers contact them to make their point and hopefully influence them to reconsider their decisions.
>
>Similarly for WesternWares and CC-RIDER though there is a probability that the situation may change, espcially when the currently unavailable XML Import function is restored later this month. We are also looking elsewhere for an alternative provider of C++ reverse-engineering support for Visual UML 3.0.
