This happened when I was using the builder to modify an existing grid. I did this having just cancelled the program to make an adjustment to the grid. All my files were open and a all yhe program vatiables were in use. I got a message too many variables (although the are far more than I needed and I had just increased the number anyway). I came out of VFP7 and started it up again.

It was at this point that I got the #1771. When I looked at the form properties I discovered that I had a grid1 and also a backgrid1 - weird.

I built the form again from scratch, because even deleting the grid did not remove the backgrid from the form.

The form is now working OK. I now make sure that I take a copy of the last working version before modifying it. I also make sure that I restart VFP7 before modifying the grid.

Any idea what is going on?
