Hi Guenter,
It turns out that in my case, every form I designed in VFP7 that worked correctly in VFP7 but had a label with an '=' in it bombed both in running in VFP8 and in trying to modify in vfp8. I had to change them all to include a space before the equal sign or eliminate the = sign and then they run fine.
