Jim,

I must admit I did not think about removing the ? in the view definition. It seems to work, though now I've got to watch out the variable used for macro expansion does not exist when creating the view.

This to me, is at least not any progress from the VFP 7 situation. I can imagine you'll not do anything about this 'change', though I'm not too happy with this behaviour change.

>4. Other than the prompt dialog if the variable does not exist (which I can't figure how to make work anyway), I get the same behavior with &varname as with &?varname.

I know, it does not work, but since, I got the habit of to include a ? with every parameter, I did define all my views with a flexible where clause this way. And above all, I don't have to worry about the variable existing when creating the view.

>>Two of my reported bugs have been confirmed:
>>BUG: Object with negative .left proptie still visible Thread #751331 Message #751331
>>BUG or feature: Transparent checkbox not transparent Thread #751821 Message #751821

If you read the thread of the left property carefully, you'll see this is a behaviour that is not showing in VFP7 or VFP6. At the least it is confusing, because you're not able to select the control with the mouse at all.

>The checkbox issue is a bug, but it's not a transparency problem. The backstyle = transparent is not applicable to graphical checkboxes. The problem is that backcolor is incorrect if the graphical checkbox is placed on a pageframe page, the checkbox assumes the backcolor of the form rather than the page. This happens if the checkbox is style=graphical, and Specialeffect = Plain or Hot Tracking. This happens in VFP7 also. VFP6 does not have Specialeffect = Hot Tracking, but it does not happen in VFP6 with Specialeffect = Plain.

>>Are more irritating in that it has negative effects on how the user interface is shown to the user.

I've send you two mails with some more clues about these problems. Hopefully, you can figure out what is wrong....

Thanks in advance...
