Hi Carmen,
Thanks for the suggestion, I am actually running under XP Pro.
Can't help you with XP, sorry.
I have tried the OKIDATA ML320/321 drivers and they don't seem to work. I was thinking about maybe trying a driver from a previous O/S such as 2000. I'm not sure how to set that up using XP.
Under 2000, I simply pointed the "Have disk" to a directory I had extracted the NT drivers into. 2000 didn't complain and they seem to work better than the Win2k included drivers and better than Okidata's 2000 drivers. Those drivers either would not allow the "tear off" feature, or would force "NLQ" on everything. Your page width problem I'm sure is just another symptom. MS seems to think the world revolves around lasers and inkjets.
By the way, I did try installing a Generic Text Printer and that alternative seems to work the best. I prints in High Speed Draft, and uses the entire width of the page. I have to try it with the reports written with the Report Wizard as well. I suspect there might be difficulty there.
If you don't need the fancy printer features, direct printing (???) will probably do the best job regarding speed. In order to get things right using the report writer, layout is critical (line spacing, font selection, etc.) or you end up with the 'pinball' effect on the printhead - I'm sure you know what I mean :-)
