It all depends on the design. You can pass around the XML or an ADO recordset, then just put into a CursorAdapter when it makes sense. There was some discussion of this during the beta and several people said they see the CursorAdapter best used in the UI layer.

Ok, so I can just have the data layer get the ADO recordset, then have the business layer pass the recordset off to a CA? I just want to make sure that updating the data in the CA, and then the RS, doesn't automatically get passed to the database.

I've been trying some searches here but there are so many results with cursoradapter and data layer, they bomb. I'll have to find some additional keywords. The examples Mark and Cetin (and others) posted are definitely helpful, not to mention Doug Hennig's FoxTalk articles.
