Thanks. I've removed and readded the offending tables, checking no reference exists in the database. When I add the tables back I VALIDATE and DISPLAY DATABASE, which shows the correct tables in the correct locations. So maybe the Table Header - How can I view/modify the table header?

It looks like table was not removed properly from database. Either database still contain reference to the table (then try to modify/validate database and remove reference), or table header was not updated properly (then try to add it and remove).
