I just tried that and had before, and like before it still didn't quite collapses that one object or collapse the and for the object that had the Remove Line if Blank checked. Does the zero space of "" (quotequote) cause the object to somehow hold its place in the band, thereby not removing the line, although it appears to be definitely blank? Am I missing soemthing?
