>>>So are you still saying that if a majority or 2/3 majority vote on something, a single country still has the power of veto ?

>>There would be no veto anymore. The resolution or whatever either passes or it does not. However, if the UN fails to resolve/enforce violations of previous resolutions, then they are a meaningless organization. In this case, I fully support the US and others in enforcing them regardless of what the other UN members say since the refuse to force Saddam into full compliance. Hell, if we all were like France, all the 1-World dreamers would have their wish. Unfortunately it would be under the Fourth Reich.

>Sorry am I missing something "I am not advocating the losing of veto power" "There would be no veto anymore", which is it ?

Sorry. That was confusing. There would be no more veto powers. Just a straight Yes or No vote. Majority or super-majority rules.

>I agree that UN resolutions should be enforced, it's just the manner in which they are enforced that bothers me. You want the US to have the right to enforce resolutions. Will it always take this action in the event of the UN not enforcing a resolution, or will it only be when it suits the US ? What do you suggest, if, for example, the UN passes by majority, a resolution that the US opposes. In the event of the UN not enforcing that policy, will the US take the view that it is a UN resolution & take power to enforce it, even though it was originally against the resolution. Will it just sit back & do nothing, because that's what they wanted in the first place ? What if another nation decides to take action to enforce that resolution, would the US take some form of action to stop that nation enforcing the UN's will ?

We will do what is in the best interest of our National Security and Sovereignty which the UN rarely gives two hoots in hell about. The problem with the UN is they lack the will to enforce because certain countries crumble at the drop of a chapeau.

>Where do you stand on the right of Palestine to take unilateral action to ensure that Israel complies with the UN resolutions ?

If the Gov't of Palestine wwants to try to enforce UN resolutions, go for it. However, this is not the approach they are taking. They are resorting to terroristic actions against purely civilian targets. That is a quantum leap from a gov't taking specific military actions against another country's military targets.
