I don't think there would be any difference as to know if the SOAP client would be installed differently in such a need. It has always been to my understanding that the SOAP client is somewhat a runtime installation on its own. However, you may be able to do some analysis as to know what you should be installed in order to support it and control that from your own installation. But, as for me, I would go with the standard SOAP client install if an application would need it.
