VFP 8.0 is mentioned in the latest SD Times, dated February 15, 2003.
In the News Briefs column, under Products is the following: "Microsoft Corp. is running a public beta of its Visual FoxPro 8.0 database, which is scheduled to be generally available in March. The new release offers structured error handling, new base classes and controls, imporved compatibility with VS.NET and SQL Server 2000, and access via Web services".
SD Times also printed a response of mine, currently online at
http://www.sdtimes.com/opinions/letters.htmAnalysis: I've heard about a dozen times about how MSFT "does all this VFP publicity to magazines and the editors don't care." I send a couple of emails and SD Times publishes news about the 8.0 beta. Not only that, they state to me they're very interested in VFP news, but Microsoft never gets back to them.
Robert Green, as the VFP product manager, can't get a mention in SD Times. Robert Green, as part of the VS.NET team, gets quoted in SD Times.
It it my hope the MSFT will not continue to lie about their marketing efforts. Either market it, or not. But don't claim that VFP is being marketed and publicized when it isn't.
