OK I got an idea.

I have an exe that executes an external (non-VFP) exe. While the exe is running, VFP goes into a loop and looks for a semaphore file to continue processing. The VFP side of things could run as a DLL, and when the external app is launched (I'm doing it with API calls), I could "lock" the DLL with the Sys call and then continue. Hmmm..
