Thanks for the quick reply! After dusting off debug and using it for the first time in several years, I came to the same conclusion. Your fix is more straightforward than mine. I output the merged text to a text file, then append it back into a temp memo field and strip out all but the last OD OA in each paragraph. This field now contains the finished, properly formatted text ready for processing.

I think I like your solution better, I give it a try.
