>Beep - wrong. We were not behind that curtain. We were not a part of the Eastern bloc. That same summer of 1972 I spoke with several American and Canadian tourists (even had a hitchhiker from Australia), who came just like that, didn't even need a visa, to spend the summer vacation on Dalmatian coast. I'm not counting the few thousand Germans, Dutch and Scandinavians who were in the same camp.

You are right. I had mistakenly thought that Yugoslavia was part of the Warsaw Pact, when in fact they were not. I had not realized that although communist, they were not under the influence of the Soviet Union.

But from your perspective, the US is damned if they do and damned if they don't. On one hand, you complain about US intervention, yet now you are asking where they were in 1972.

>You made a huge mistake in Vietnam. You had Saddam on your side for a while. You haid the (predecessors of) Taliban on your side in Afghanistan. You installed Pinochet in Chile against a democratically elected government.

Yes, Vietnam was a mistake. And Saddam was a mistake. No one is saying that the US is perfect. But when it comes down to it, we are still the best.

Your accusations go on and on. You say "your country", yet you are living here and reaping the benefits of living here. Why is that?

>You failed to address Turkey's actions against their own people Kurds. You allowed Turkey to maintain the impossible state in north Cyprus. You had Noriega for an ally and later arrested him. You invaded Grenada. You supported Papa Doc for a number of years. You supported Marcos.

I don't know the issues in Turkey so far as the Kurds, but I doubt that you do. This seems to be more of an attack on the US than any concern for the Kurds. Yes, Noriega was an ally against communism. Grenada was also a communist issue. It isn't any more. Maybe you prefer communism? If so, there is a tropical island 90 miles from the US where you might be happier.

Again, the US is damned if they do and damned if they don't. When we act, you complain. When we don't act, you complain. Yet you are living here. There is a saying "America, love it or leave it." While I don't completely agree with it, your hypocrisy toward this country is unbelievable.

>Look at your record. What makes you so damn sure you are not making another huge mistake. And keep in mind that your mistakes, given your size, wealth and power, cost much more.

Our size, wealth, and power are no accident. As far as making a mistake in Iraq? The only mistake will be if we take no action.
