A shared host would't allow you to put that sort of things. Would you do it? 8-)

If this is a must-have, then you have to llok at a dedicated host. The best ones I used were at VERIO. Most of the time, the cost of a dedicated server exceeds the possibilities of a single project, but if you do this kind of work, maybe you can consider to have 'your' dedicated server and host most of your web projects there.

The freedom of independence that this gives you is really great. you can do whatever you want with the server, controlling it with any remote tool.
