>Ok, first I apologize to all. I’m sorry. Of course no one is an idiot, just because they don’t rush out and buy VFP 8.0. A word typed in haste. But what I’d like to know is, if one plans on doing any new development in VFP, why they wouldn’t upgrade/buy whatever to V8?

Upgrade appears not to be a viable option anymore regardless of the fact that Ken says the EULA wording is designed to encourage upgrades (go figure). Buying outside of the upgrade is still an option. It's just one that I find a little galling. MS screws over it's clients and once again the clients roll over and pay. What really burns me is that I might well end up being one of those clients.

It saddens me that so many people just blindly allow MS to do whatever they want without even a small wimper of distate. Maybe we should start a letter writing campaign to try to figure out new ways for MS to mess us up and raise their income. I'm sure a group as bright as VFPers can come up with a lot of great ways to give MS money for tripping us up.

I know, how about when you buy version 9 for say, $500.00 US (or whatever), the EULA requires that you dial in for an activation code. Then when you dial in, you have to pay another $250.00 US for the right to have your purchase activated. I think that would work, and many people would feel it completely justified - after all what's a couple hundred more dollars.

>Also let’s get real. Who in the world is going to throw you in jail, slap your hand, fine you, whatever because you keep and use a copy of V7 on your machine after you install V8? I’ll submit to you no one in my lifetime. Granted I’m old.

I do believe that MS would. They take licensing very seriously (and in that at least, I agree with them).

>>>**After all, I was just called an idiot by a UT poster because I will not blindly upgrade and risk my current client base**
>>>I wouldn't consider it blindly. Also, why does it risk your current client base? I upgraded almost 10 clients, over 100 workstations, in the first week after it was available for download. I've experienced no problems whatsoever.

>>1) It's been a rare event for me too that a EULA has caused a malfunction in one of my applications;
>>2) The problem is the 8.0 Upgrade version EULA, and since you are obviously using MSDN you do not have the same problem.
