Your point is well taken.

I do not think we have to worry about Microsoft going out of business too soon. The Microsoft Marketing Department explores many business models and within the last two years as an example, has had high hopes regarding income from Web Services, Subscription Services and of course .NET, a solution looking for a problem. Even though the visions and expectations of Microsoft do not meet the public eye, they seem to make a profit from software sales.

Granted if no new software were created by a company, or you were not impressed with the “must have feature list” of a new software offering, the company could not last long.

As for the term “Upgrade”, it means different things to different people. In fact Microsoft has demonstrated its inconsistency in the use of this phrase.
