Bruce;

The logic behind war with Iraq is not there. It is purely an emotional issue. If you were in a college class where the math professor said, “0 to the base 10 equals 1”, you would object and rightfully so. Now we are asked to stretch our imaginations as to “why” we must have war with Iraq.

1. Iraq “might do something in the future”.
2. Iraq “did something in the past”.
3. War with Iraq will solve the problems with the Israelis and Palestinians. At least that is what George W. said yesterday.

Yes, stretch your imagination and all the problems of the world will be solved by having war with Iraq.

In the mean time Bin Laden and al Qaeda are going about their business as they wish while we are told the status of our daily National Security Level, and that since September 11th, 2001, “we are at war” (words of Bush, George W.).

According to the reports I have heard as of yesterday, the federal Government has not given promised funds to local and state governments for “Homeland Security”, as has been promised for over one year. Instead such governments have had to pay for this additional burden with limited or non-existent funds. In California we are talking about firing 10-15 percent of all police, fireman and teachers due to budget problems. Yet, the number of politicians, pet projects and political staff, will not be affected.

We could put Iraq in a state of siege as was done throughout Europe in centuries past. By not allowing anything into Iraq we could occupy Iraq, but the problem is that although starvation would kill nearly all of its citizens, and we would “win the war without loosing any military personal”, one person would survive. Saddam!
