Any screensavers activated? Is Active Desktop enabled? There may be some interaction between these things, as how FPW 2.x performs screen updates is non-standard. I've noticed odd behaviors with FPW on certain machines where the excluded symbol (circle with slash running through it) would not appear correctly in the project (I'd get an irregularly-shaped blob instead of the symbol) -- replacing the video driver fixed the problem.
