Yes it should return different in that case. Hardware wise I don't know something that's unique (might be 'hardware' manufacturer's serial number for HDD but I don't know how to make that work w/o assembly).
Many ppl use software generated (format) HDD serial number. I don't like it for it could also be changed programmatically to any value you want + it's the first place anyone who wants to crack would look.
