Jim,

You brought back a couple of 'bad' memories for me -- I too was one who snickered at the PC when it first came out -- I was not interested in messing with a 'toy' -- give me the big powerful mainframes!

Second 'bad' memory: I was working at UCLA in the 1970's developing database systems, and there were some programmers working down the hallway on the Arpanet project. How boring!

Stupid me times two!

(When is stupid #3 going to catch me?)

>I started in the mainframe end in 1967, and when PCs first came out they were sneered at by all of us in that field as mere toys. Also, IBM was steamrolling all competitors (mainframes) and we all felt they would go on forever.
>Even when IBM delivered its first PC - effectively legitimizing them in the business world - we continued to snicker at the boys with the little toys.

>My, how things can change!
