Chris;

Eisenhower had them scheduled to land with the British and American troops but Charles De Gaulle refused. De Gaulle did allow 22 interrupters to go in 24 hours after the invasion began. After the area had been secured French troops entered Paris. They were the first to enter in respect for the French people and country.

Many books have asked the question of why French soldiers did not land with the “D Day” troops. I have not found the answer behind it. Even Polish soldiers were directly involved in the invasion. I mention Poland as England and France had promised to arm Poland and defend it in case of invasion.

It is thought that had England and France sent arms to Poland as they had signed in writing, and had France sent troops to help the Polish repel the German invasion, Germany would have been defeated. Instead, the French stayed at home and lost France with little effort on the part of the German Army.
