Chris;

Charles De Gaulle is often criticized for his actions but imagine what things were like for him while he was coming up through the ranks? French Field Marshals and Generals averaged 80-85 and were from “the old school”, sometimes referred to as “the old guard”.

De Gaulle while still a Colonel during the late 1920’s designed a tank and the first tank communications system using radio. This communications system would allow tanks to communicate with other tanks as well as field commanders. Tanks could thus be sent to specific areas where needed and assist each other as required. De Gaulle presented his plans to the “old guard” and was rejected. The Germans took De Gaulle’s plans and built the tank De Gaulle designed. The Germans called it the “Tiger”.
