In Bolivia, Monday and Tuesday are holidays.

The greatest carnival activity (especially dances) seems to be in Oruro - a very cold city (must be ca. 4000 meters above sea level). I just saw an article in CNN/Spanish about the Oruro carnival: http://www.cnnenespanol.com/2003/destinos/02/28/carnaval.oruro.reut/index.html

Otherwise, here we also have "entradas" (with dances), but the main emphasis in carnival seems to be getting each other wet.

Hilmar.
Difference in opinions hath cost many millions of lives: for instance, whether flesh be bread, or bread be flesh; whether whistling be a vice or a virtue; whether it be better to kiss a post, or throw it into the fire... (from Gulliver's Travels)
