I can’t say that I have heard this name before. I looked it up in the phone book and I couldn’t find anyone with this name (we’re about 150.000 people in this city). I also looked it up on the National Statistics Bureau in Norway and the result was three or less people with this name. Maybe your grandfather’s whole family emigrated and that it wasn’t a very commonly used name at the time?
