I have an application in VB6.0 and Access 2000 database. I have an import process in the application. The text file includes information for two different tables in the database, header and detail. Each header has one or more related detail records. When I use the default Wizard in Access or 'Transfer Text' command in VB to import the text file to a single table in the database with the same format it takes a few seconds. But when I am trying to save the data in two header and detail tables then the speed slows down to more than five minutes.
I would appreciate any ideas on how to improve the import speed. The user needs to perform the import once a week and it is taking way too long.
