There's absolutely no bug in there. What I have in VFP 8 is exactly the same as your both versions. This is normal. It is normal it reacts this way.

There are needs to use a specific set of tools when they are required. In this situation, the use of modal window, IMHO, doesn't apply. This is why you are facing those situations. Just go back to the base points such as I described along this thread.
