I can't send you my form, it won't work because all I use is subclassed (forms, controls, etc.). I have also references to my application object, main toolbar, etc.
A good start can be to open classes and forms from Tastrade samples application and see code, it use the same technique.
About detail lines, you can control where to append records (parent or child table) using ActiveControl property which references the control that has the focus.
