If the Web Service methods returns an XML string, you have chances of being able to have it run ok. I've faced the situation that many Web Services are returning objects, dataset, etc. In that case, there isn't much you can do but to complain to the Web Service owner that it's not standard. Well, if for the general public, the method should return a standard XML string. If for internal use only, yes, sometimes, they might decide to return whatever they want.
