Hi all,

after copying a database file and all the tables that are contained in the database from a network share to a local drive we found that some of the tables on the network drive were no longer part of the database and some fields in some tables were blanked out.

We can restore from a backup, but besides the obvious "never copy files when they may be open" I am very confused as to why this happened.

Some facts:
-We are 99% sure that the database on the network share was open by other users at the time we copied the files.
-The database and tables are all located in the same folder on the network.

Has anyone seen this before and if so, is there a reason why this happens this way? I would have expected to get a message like "file access denied" or something. But we got nothing like that. Windows explorer completed the copy without any errors.

Any ideas with regards to this bizare copy results are appreciated.
Thanks!
