It is a long time ago that I used versions prior to 6, but I will try to give you a few features from memory. There are lots of them, and, IMO, the upgrade is worthwhile.
Support for JPG and GIF images.
Access and Assign methods.
Support for the CHM help format.
Functions StrToFile() and FileToStr().
Function alines().
Function date(y, m, d) allows you to create dates without ambiguities. Similar for datetime().
SET STRICTDATE, to detect ambiguous dates.
Changes in SET CENTURY ... ROLLOVER.
COMPILE command is supported at runtime (SP3 or later).
New Session class (SP3 or later).
I think there are quite a lot more changes, related to technology I don't currently use (creating DLLs, Web services, and such).
HTH,
Hilmar.
